Jury

José Paulo Santos

José Paulo Santos was born in Coimbra in 1979 and currently lives in Matosinhos. Since 2013, he has been dedicated to independent cinema. He directed the films “…beyond the waiting room”, which was included in the National Cinema Plan in 2018, “Circunstâncias”, “Observador”, “13H”, “1965 | Panreal, a building by Nadir Afonso”, and “Zé Luís, a sculptor of voices”. His films have been screened at 293 International Film Festivals and have received 283 International Awards.

He has curated a film cycle at the historic UNICEPE bookstore in Porto since 2024 and occasionally serves as a jury member at International Film Festivals.

He is currently a lecturer and coordinator of the Multimedia course at Escola Artística da Árvore in Porto, works at the Culture Unit of the University of Porto, and is a doctoral candidate at the University of Vigo.

 

João Rita

João Rita is a Portuguese programmer and film promoter with a background in Cinema.

He is the Director of the Arouca Film Festival – Arouca International Film Festival, where he develops programming, curatorship, and cultural expansion strategies. He also serves as president of the Arouca Film Club, leading training, screening, and film outreach activities.

His work focuses on promoting Portuguese cinema, building audiences, and developing cultural projects with local and national impact.

 

Maria Adrover

She holds a degree in English Philology and Master’s degrees in Tourism Marketing, Dramaturgy, and Audiovisual Screenwriting. She has written several documentary scripts, and works as a journalist and as a teacher of Creative Writing and Narrative Construction. She is the Deputy Director of the Arouca International Film Festival and the Vice-President of the Arouca Cine Club Association.
